Senior Strategist for Educational Technologies:

Kathleen Brautigam

Kathleen has been dedicated to integrating current and emerging technologies in support of instruction, communication, administration and strategic planning for 32 years. She comes to Affion after serving as the Director of Educational Technology for the Pennsylvania Department of Education, where her work included support for interagency federal and state grant initiatives, and service on state and national policy advisories.

In 1998, Kathleen began a 10-year quest for access to affordable, reliable broadband service and requisite educational resources for rural, underserved regions in Pennsylvania. The resulting enactment of the Act 183 E-Fund initiative and her work as the E-Fund lead for the Department of Education marked a milestone in the completion of her quest. The E-fund initiative now has 440 Pennsylvania education entities and all 29 Intermediate Units under contract to form the statewide network.

At the Department of Education, Kathleen also managed educational technology systems integration across multiple, regional and statewide enterprise initiatives. These model programs include the development of an education portal (the EdHub); a data driven, strategic planning and reporting tool (eStrategicPlanner); and technology integration coaching and mentoring programs (Keystone Technology Integrators and PA Technology Integration Mentors).

Prior to this, Kathleen served as Director of Technology at the district and regional service agency level, where she helped develop and implement innovative technology strategies in support of nationally recognized educational planning methodology.

Her depth of experience has resulted in invitations to testify before state and federal legislative committees on the effectiveness of Pennsylvania's educational technology initiatives.

Kathleen received a B.S. in Education from the College of New Jersey and a M.S. in Instructional Technology from Bloomsburg University. She has served as adjunct graduate level faculty for Millersville University, Bloomsburg University, and Duquesne University.
